Overview
When is mylar the right choice?
The catch is the material. Mylar is plastic film, so unlike our paper-first boxes it isn't 100% recyclable. It's the right call when the product needs a barrier against air and light. If it doesn't, a kraft paper pouch is the plastic-light choice.
Mylar blocks air, moisture and light, which keeps coffee, powders and supplements fresh for longer than paper alone. A zip lets the customer reseal the bag after each use.
It isn't paper. Mylar bags are plastic film and aren't covered by our 100% recyclable paper claim. If recyclability matters more than shelf life, use a kraft paper pouch with a barrier liner chosen for your product.
- Film. Foil-lined, in a matte or gloss finish.
- Zip. A press-to-close seal for resealing.
- Tear notch. A small cut that opens the bag the first time.
- Optional window and valve. A clear panel, or a one-way valve for coffee.

Sizing
Sizing a mylar bag
Send the weight or volume you fill, and the density of the product. Coffee, protein powder and gummies fill the same bag differently.
We size the width, height and gusset from the fill, not from the weight alone.

Matte or gloss, then print.
The film itself is the finish, so choose matte or gloss and print on it. Aqueous coating applies to our paper boxes, not to film.

Gloss on one area of a matte box. Good for a logo, bad for small text.

Recyclability matters most
Mylar is a film, not paper. If you need a recyclable pack, use a kraft paper pouch with a barrier liner and check the liner with your specialist.
You only need a handful of boxes
Best value starts at 50 units, because of logistics and shipping. For 10 or 20 we can consider it, but the cost per box is higher and a stock box with a printed sticker may cost you less.
You need boxes next week
Production runs 10–12 days before shipping. If your launch is sooner, buy stock boxes now and switch to custom for the next run.
You want plain brown boxes
If nothing gets printed, a stock box supplier is cheaper and faster. We're worth it once the box carries your brand.
