Rigid boxes
Two-piece lid and base boxes in wrapped greyboard. The box people keep on a shelf.
Rigid box · Rigid board
Custom candle boxes hold a candle in glass, tin or ceramic, with an insert that keeps it from knocking around. We make them as rigid lid-and-base boxes or as paperboard cartons, from 50 units per design.
Overview
The jar is heavier than it looks and more fragile than it seems. Pick the box by where it's going: a carton for a shop shelf, rigid for a gift, and a corrugated mailer around either one if it ships.
A candle box has three jobs: hold a heavy vessel still, protect the glass, and carry the scent name where people can read it. The insert does the first two.
Most candle brands start with a rigid box with a paperboard insert for gifts, and a tuck carton with a lock bottom for retail.
Specifications
Every box is drawn to your product, so these are the options, not a fixed catalogue. Your specialist confirms the exact spec on the proof.

| Outside and inside; space for scent and safety copy | |

Board and build
Same candle, different job.
| Build | Use it for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Rigid lid and base | Gifts, premium ranges | Ships assembled; needs a mailer to post |
| Shoulder box | A more formal reveal | Higher cost than a simple lid |
| Lock-bottom carton | Retail shelves, larger ranges | Needs an insert for glass |
| Tuck-end kraft carton | Natural-looking ranges | Ink prints darker on brown |
Test before you commit. 50 units is enough to put a box in front of real customers before a bigger run.
Compare
An insert adds a part. Here's what it buys you.
| With insert | Without insert | |
|---|---|---|
| Glass moves | No | Yes |
| Breakage in the mail | Lower | Higher |
| Box size | Slightly bigger | Tight to the jar |
| Cost | One more part | Lower |
For anything in glass that leaves your hands, use an insert. For tins sold over a counter, you can often skip it.
Sizing
Measure the vessel at its widest point with the lid on. A jar with a wooden lid is often wider at the lid than the glass.
Send length, width and height (for round jars, diameter and height), or a photo on a ruler. We add clearance for the insert on the dieline. How to measure a box covers the order.
Finishes
Aqueous coating goes on every box by default. Add one finish where it counts.
The scent name or logo.
Quiet on kraft or a textured wrap.
A raised logo on the lid.
Adds plastic. Skip it if the range is pitched as natural.
Quote
One measurement and a quantity is enough to start. Your specialist replies with a structure, so you can see the box before you commit to anything.
How it works
The specialist who picks up your first email stays with the project until the boxes arrive.
Step 01
Send the product dimensions, how it ships and how many you need. A photo on a ruler is enough to start.
Step 02
Your packaging specialist builds the dieline around your product. Structural design is free.
Step 03
Drop your artwork onto the dieline. We check bleed, folds and barcodes, and send a digital proof.
Step 04
Production takes 10–12 days on most orders. Boxes ship flat, packed in cartons, to your door.
FAQ
50 units per design. Enough to test a box with real customers before you commit to a bigger run.
For glass, yes. The insert grips the vessel so it doesn't knock against the box. Tins sold over a counter can often go without.
Not a carton or rigid box. Put it in a corrugated mailer for the post.
Measure the diameter at the widest point, lid on, and the full height. Send those or a photo on a ruler.
10–12 days on most orders, counted from proof approval. Shipping time is on top.
Honest fit
If the candle is wrapped and handed over, a printed label and a paper bag may be all you need.
Our minimum is 50 units. For 10 or 20, a stock box with a printed sticker will cost you less.
Production runs 10–12 days before shipping. If your launch is sooner, buy stock boxes now and switch to custom for the next run.
If nothing gets printed, a stock box supplier is cheaper and faster. We're worth it once the box carries your brand.
Send the diameter and height with the lid on, and how many you need. We'll draw the box and insert.
