Rigid boxes
Two-piece lid and base boxes in wrapped greyboard. The box people keep on a shelf.
Rigid box · Rigid board
Custom gift boxes are rigid or folding boxes printed with your brand and sized to what goes inside, from 50 units per design. We draw the structure for free, and production takes 10–12 days from proof approval.
Overview
A gift box is judged on the first lift of the lid. Spend the budget on the box and one finish, not on four. If the gift ships in the post, it needs a plain mailer around it, because a rigid box won't survive the truck on its own.
A gift box has one job: make the thing inside feel chosen. Most are rigid, a stiff greyboard tray and lid wrapped in printed paper, because weight and a clean edge read as value. Folding cartons work for lighter gifts and lower budgets.
Magnetic closure is a rigid style where hidden magnets pull the lid shut. It's the one people search for by name, and it's worth it when the box is meant to be kept.
Specifications
Every box is drawn to your product, so these are the options, not a fixed catalogue. Your specialist confirms the exact spec on the proof.

Board and build
Pick by how you want the box to open and what it has to hold.
| Style | Opens by | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Lid and base | Lifting the lid off | Gift sets, apparel, keepsakes |
| Magnetic closure | Lifting a flap held shut by magnets | Premium sets that get kept |
| Shoulder box | Lifting a lid that rests on a raised neck | Fragrance, candles, a formal reveal |
| Folding carton | Pulling the tuck | Lighter, lower-cost gifts |
Each style can carry the same wrap and insert. Magnetic closure adds cost, so use it where the box will be reused.
Compare
Both can carry a gift. They differ in weight, cost and how they ship.
| Rigid gift box | Folding carton | |
|---|---|---|
| Feel | Heavy and stiff | Light, printed paperboard |
| Arrives | Assembled | Flat, folds in seconds |
| Goes in the mail on its own | No. Needs a mailer around it | No. Too thin |
| Best for | Gifts people keep | Gifts people open and bin |
A rigid box needs a plain outer box to travel. See custom mailer boxes for the shipper, or custom rigid boxes for every rigid style.
Sizing
Send the size of the whole set laid out as it will sit in the box, plus the tissue and card. Measure at the widest point of each item, since a bottle's widest point may be its cap.
Don't add clearance yourself. Structural design is $0 and we add it when we draw the dieline. If you're unsure which side is which, read how to measure a box.
Finishes
Most gift boxes need one finish, not four. Aqueous coating goes on every box by default.
One logo on the lid. It catches light on the shelf.
Pressed in, no ink. Works on wrapped paper.
A glossy pattern on a matte lid.
Velvet feel, but it adds plastic. Skip it if you need plastic-free.
Quote
One measurement and a quantity is enough to start. Your specialist replies with a structure, so you can see the box before you commit to anything.
How it works
The specialist who picks up your first email stays with the project until the boxes arrive.
Step 01
Send the product dimensions, how it ships and how many you need. A photo on a ruler is enough to start.
Step 02
Your packaging specialist builds the dieline around your product. Structural design is free.
Step 03
Drop your artwork onto the dieline. We check bleed, folds and barcodes, and send a digital proof.
Step 04
Production takes 10–12 days on most orders. Boxes ship flat, packed in cartons, to your door.
FAQ
50 units per design. That's enough to test a box with real customers before a bigger run.
Yes, as a rigid style. A magnetic closure holds the lid shut and suits boxes people keep. It adds cost, so your specialist will tell you if a plain lid will do.
Yes, inside, outside or both. The inside of the lid is what people see first.
Not on its own. A rigid box needs a plain mailer or shipping box around it. See custom mailer boxes.

No. Structural design is $0. We draw the dieline around your gift, and you only pay once you order boxes.
